Here is a picture of what my back looks like - what a mess - sure do wish I could find the bug that is enjoying me so much - but I never seem to be able to locate the hungry buggers. The second picture is of a bite on my leg - this is how it starts - and then because my back is covered with clothes the blisters break and weep and scab and are getting quite painful actually - must admit it is not much fun.

Yesterday I did manage to clean up my kitchen - found the top of the table and the counters as well. Did two loads of laundry and cleaned up the bathroom - and by 6:30 p.m. I was absolutely wiped out. Must admit this business of being continually uncomfortable is quite wearing - I will be very glad when I feel much better.

Today I am off to Club - then tomorrow I am heading to Cairo - shhhh Aymn does not know. We are going on a tour of the Asfour Crystal Plant - it is a small group - I think there are only 10 of us - so it should be lots of fun - I am looking forward to it - although I am not keen on dressing and going out - because of course my back makes a real mess of whatever I am wearing - SIGH. But I am going to do the best I can to enjoy myself. Will try to take pics and share them with you.

M, get yourself to a doctor! They look like spider bites, but the concern is less the bite and more the infection. Staph is not too hard to catch, and something about Egypt increases the likelihood. PLEASE, soak yourself in epson salts (or just salts), put some some fucidin, and then get yourself to a doctor. Those look nasty. These little things start so simply...

EWWWWW! Just a question, but should you let that thing bubble up like that? Isn't that full of poison or something?? I can't believe you haven't gone to the Doctor!

Oh and I love your choice of words..."wish I could find the bug that is enjoying me so much...."

HAHAHA!! That's the right attitude!

Do you think it is coming from your bed? Do you put your mattresses out in the sun--and your bed linens--that is verrry important in Egypt. It kills everything! And please see a DR ASAP!

OK, OK, OK - you know I have been to a doctor - the first time I had these wonderful bites I did end up at a hospital in Libya - and guess what the doctor said - they are bug bites - you need to find the bugs and kill them - now I just wish these bugs had some manners and would ask permission before they chewed on me - but they must be Egyptian bugs - no manners - they just chomp. I wash me bedding weekly and hang it out to dry in the sun. Only problem is these bites started when I was in the car in Cairo - LOL. I should was my bedding - but I hesitate since I weep all over them every night - I promise on Wednesday I will strip my bed and wash it. Now getting the mattress in the sun is nigh on impossible - it is a big mattress - bigger than a western Queen size - and the way my bed is made it is impossible for me to wrangle it out on my own.

Can you find a Western doctor? I'm sorry but I have very little faith in the Arab doctors in teh Middle East -- except in rare cases. 2 things worry me: infection (MRSA can be deadly) and allergic reaction (also can be deadly). I don't mean to sound so creepy but I think you should take it seriously.

All the more reason you need to get your wondows fitted properly.

Take care,
PM

I have a suggestion for you. I don't know if these supplies will be available to you. I doubt it, but then I don't know. You need to make yourself a myrrh tincture. You need a small bottle of Everclear alcohol. It's like 1000 proof or something. Here in the States they don't put it on the shelf because it's so strong. They put it behind the counter. I wonder if Araq or something like that would work. I don't know. Then you need to buy some Myrrh. There are two forms which are cut and dried or powder. I suggest cut and dried because the powder tends to gum up. You can order them online from places that sell bulk herbs. Again, I don't know if you can get it delivered there, but you could always have someone send it from Canada, inshallah. Then you just fill a jar about 1/4 of the way up with myrrh and pour the alcohol in. If you let that sit for a few days, weeks, you can use it whenever you need it. When it turns a deep orangish red color, it is ready. Just dip a cotton ball in it and apply it to the bite. My sister was once bitten by an unknown spider and complained of intense pain and very shortly was not able to walk. The bite was on her ankle and it swelled and had little red lines coming out of it immediately. Applying some myrrh tincture, the pain stopped immediately and then the red lines disappeared within a few minutes. Alhamdulilah.

Mo , I think this could possibly be ... dare I say it, but ,a vacationing "Bed Bug" that somehow or another got into your car and from there to your bed , visa-vis clothes ? They leave bites like that . They are much like lice in that you have to look for them in the seams of things .They look sorta like a tiny flat reddish lady bug triangular shaped .You won't ever see them . They can be killed by insecticides from the chemist . As for myrrh , that is that stinky incense that the Arabs Love so that is called Jawwee.Maybe you could find some " Flash " , lol , in place of that other alcohol ?But for Pete's sake go to the darn doctor's !

OTE - they are not bed bugs - bed bugs leave bloody spots on the sheets from when the bite you - no bloody marks on my sheets - and I have thorougly checked my matress, lines and everything - no little bugs. I am on the mend - slowly but surely I am getting there.

Thanks everyone for their concern. I do not hold doctors in very high regard - egyptian or western - likely because they seem to think they are GOD and I KNOW they are not - but I am very careful - I am keeping an eye on them to make sure they do not get infected. I am quite concerned about my allergic reaction - this time around was much worse than the first time - so.....
